So I woke up yesterday to only being able to open one eye. The other one was crusted shut(NOT a good thing!) I go into the bathroom, wash off the crusty stuff, and then see the reddest eye I have ever seen. I instantly know what it is......pink eye. I called work and went to the doctor. They confirmed too that it was pink eye. They told me to take the day off. So I sat around the house all day long. I washed all the bedding, towels and clothes that I wore on tuesday. I accidentally fell asleep and woke up to the goo from my eye running down my face. (SORRY if you have a weak stomach.) I thought crap....that cannot be good! It wasn't....I woke up to BOTH eyes crusted shut this morning. I now have pink eye in BOTH eyes. UUUUHHHHHHH.
I am just hoping that it clears up by Sunday, otherwise what crappy New Year for me!
I use to be an Army wife and blog about that life.......Now I am divorced and a full time college student. I am going to blog about my new adventures!

Hanging in there...
So I just got back a few hours ago from Tammy's house. My friend and I took over some dinner to the house. Tammy is doing better than we expected. She said that she had a really bad morning, because it was the first time she has been left alone since before her husband was in the hospital. The funeral is friday and she still has a lot to do between now and then. Her husband was in the military for 22 years so it will be a military funeral. Her son and grandson are going to be moving home so that they can be with her. She thinks it will help, plus she does not want to be alone.
Please just continue to keep her in your thought and prayers.

Another Prayer Request
I am writing to ask that you keep one of my fellow employees in your prayers. A week ago today her husband wrecked his truck into a house. Once taken to the hospital they discovered that he has 2 brain aneurysms. There was a lot of fluid on the brain and he has been on life support. His condition has continued to worsen over the week. Today the doctors ran some tests and discovered that he is brain dead and there is no blood flowing to the brain. They are going to take him off of life support today. He just turned 50. They have 3 children and 1 grandchild. My employees name is Tammy.
Please just keep Tammy and her children in your thoughts and prayers. I know that with Christmas right around the corner the family is going to have a very difficult time.
Thanks, Rox

3 down one more to go!
So I am done with 3 of my classes this semester and only one more to go! Not to toot my own horn, but I have all A's so far! Yay!! I was a little worried after being out of school since 2001.
I am DREADING next semester! I have music and movement(a child development class), American Government, Biology, and computer concepts. I am sorry but I am not too interested in government and biology (cutting up frogs) is not really my thing!:0) Anyway, I am glad that this semester is almost over and I am glad that SO far things are going pretty well.

My LOVE for ebay!
Ok let me try and start from the beginning on this one. My husband LOVES the Indianapolis Colts(NFL Football Team). So...as his"leaving the Army" present I bought him 2 tickets to the Dallas Cowboys/ Colts game the is scheduled for Sunday the 19th. GREAT...he LOVED them and I was actually getting pumped about the game. I bought the stuff to make a t-shirt for the game and everything.
THEN..... He joined the Reserves and yep, you guessed it! He has drill this weekend! We probably could have gotten sunday off if we had not had to have gone to the funeral last month.
Anyway, back to ebay. I decided to try and sell them on ebay. I thought maybe they would sell and we would not have to eat the 228.00 for the tickets. I took pics of the tickets and crossed my fingers about selling them. THEY SOLD IN 13 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!! I was SHOCKED that they sold so fast. We got 225.00 for them and after paying ebay and paypal we got 219.00.
I am glad we sold them and I am now going to start looking around the house to see what else I can sell!:0)
So....if you have not sold on ebay, you should try it! You just never know!!!!

Trying to fit in......
So, as you all know I am attending night school. I LOVE being in school BUT I am starting to realize that I do not fit in. There are younger 20 year olds in my class that are not married and women in their 40s that are mothers and have had a career for years. One of the younger ladies in my class IS a mom. We were talking about our childhoods and when it came to my turn I told them that I lived a normal childhood. Nothing bad happened to me. My parents are still married, I did not party in high school. I have never smoked or done drugs. I did not even drink until I was 21. For some reason she got all mad and was telling me that I am not normal and I was just a spoiled little rich girl. EXCUSE ME???? So b/c I was raised in a good home and my parents love me, some how that transfers to being a "spoiled little rich girl".... I just let it go but now she's really rude to me and even followed me home the other night. She was driving on my tail with her bright lights on. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! So anyway, back to what I was saying. I am having a hard time making friends or even finding someone to talk to during class.
Maybe next semester.......
Maybe next semester.......

Bitter-Sweet weekend.
This past weekend my husband and I took a 15 hour road trip to Greenup, Kentucky for his best friend's funeral. The drive up was not bad. We made it from Stillwater to Uniontown, KY the first day. Joe's father is buried there along with is grandfather. His father grew up there and so I got to see the farm and the gravesite of his father. We met up with Joe's "uncle" Rodney. Uncle Rodney is Joe's godfather and his father's best friend. He told us stories about Joe's dad and I am starting to discover that Joe is a lot like his father!
The next morning we got up and traveled the last 6 hours across Kentucky to Greenup. Kentucky and Missouri are SO PRETTY in the fall. The trees were amazing! The funeral was VERY hard and sad on the both of us. There were several other 2/2 guys that were there so it was great to see them and to spend time with them. My 2 best girlfriends came with their husbands so it was AWESOME to get to see them, although I wish it were under different circumstances. My friend Jen has a 10 month old that I got to see for the first time. He's ADORABLE!!!!!(and looks like his mommy...thank god):0)
The car ride home sucked because this time we did it in 1 day instead of 2. The last hour before home I could not keep my eyes open....thank god Joe was driving...but I was no help to keep him awake! The ride up and back was great. Joe and I got a long perfectly and we actually got to talk to each other. Since I work all day and take night classes it is kind of hard sometimes to have a quality conversation time.
Please continue to keep Garth's wife and parents in your prayers.
Thanks

SCREWED by the MAN
So as I have recently posted I am going back to school. I was awarded a scholarship for a lot of my school. Since we are pretty much a single income(the reserves money is a joke). I applied for financial aid. They said that I we made too much last year. YES, last year we probably did....BUT that is not our current situation. I only make at best a 1,000 a month. Let's just say that I am 26 and my parents have to help pay my bills. BUT... the good ol federal government still thinks that an income of 13,000 is TOO MUCH MONEY!!! They said that if I were single OR had kids then I would qualify. WHAT????? I cannot even afford school. How the heck do you think I could pay for a baby? PLUS......we are NOT READY to be parents.UUUHHHHH
So basically if I were a single mom with 3 kids living on "the system" you would give me money. What is wrong with the system? We need money too! Yes Joe get a G.I Bill...but there is not any money out there for me. .There needs to be money available TO ANYONE who wants to further their education.
Just getting out some frustration!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL????
FOOTBALL season is here!!! Yeah!! It's pretty exciting living in a football town. Everything in this town is orange and black(not my colors of choice) but it still is cool to see. The Colts are playing the Giants tonight. Joe and I cannot wait to watch the game. Why? Because Payton Manning is the quarterback for the Colts( GO COLTS!!) and Eli Manning(his little brother) is the quarterback for the Giants. It should be a good game! Joe is having some buddies over and I am making homemade chili. I can't wait and I am so excited that it's football season!!!!!

Recipe # 2
Ok so my plan to do this once a week was ruined when I started school!!! Finally I have a minute to think about another one.
Jalapeno stuffed peppers
Ingredients:
Whole Jalapenos
Bacon
Cream cheese
Block of cheddar cheese
Toothpicks
First step is to cut the top around the stem off of the jalapeno. Then carefully clean out as many of the seeds as you can. A small knife if you have one, or even running some water in there will help to flush them out.
Next step is to stuff softened cream cheese OR cheddar cheese inside the jalapeno. You can place the top back on the Jalapeno if you would like. It kinda helps to hold the cheese in.
Next take a strip of bacon and wrap it around the Jalapeno. Use the tooth picks to hold the bacon in place. It usually takes 2 toothpicks.
Finally either grill them for about 30 minutes on the grill(medium heat) or bake them in the oven at about 350 for about 15 minutes.
Don't forget to remind your guests or family to remove the toothpicks before eating!
Enjoy!

Bye bye Mr. Crocodile man
So I was actually quite sad on Monday to hear of Steve Irwins death. I always loved to watch his shows and he always had such great compassion when he talked. It also made me think. What am I that compassionate about? Is there anything(other than my family) that I would be so compassionate about...even if it killed me? I cannot think of anything. I had this discussion yesterday with my husband. He said he did not know of anything either.
I wonder if God has a special place in his heart for Steve? He loved all of God's creatures and loved teaching about them.
I will definitely be thinking about his wife Terry and their two children. Such a sad but strange freak accident.

Labor Day

So since I had the day off I did something that I have been meaning to do since I moved in. Paint and decorate my master bathroom. We have 2 full baths in the house so I am the only one that uses this bathroom. Joe and guests use the other one. I decided in between my 8 loads of laundry I had to do today that I would work on this as well. (Did she just say 8 loads of laundry??? YES....I HATE laundry!)So the first is a before picture. I got the ladder in there and then decided I wanted to take a picture. Notice in the first picture the HORRIBLE 70's style counter top.
The second picture is the finished product. Notice anything different? I covered the counter top in contact paper. I KNOW I KNOW some reading this might think how ghetto....BUT when your house is decorated in a style that is before you were born...ANYTHING(even contact paper) is an improvement!:0) Heidi if you read this...remember when you pic your countertops and such"Will I like this in 10 years"?!
Well it's off to bed for me.....worked too hard today.
Have a great week to all!!!!

Messed up
Sorry about all the grammer errors in the previous post. I am WAY TO SLEEPY and did not even think about spell check! Sorry! I am going to bed now!
UPDATE
NO I did not drop off of the face of the planet(just close to it!) I started school last week and my life has been busy, busy, busy! I am starting to think that working 40 hours and taking 12 college hours is a little tougher than I though it was going to be.
Ok, so an up date from my last post. The weekend was better than expected and the guy was nicer than we thought. It just left me thinking that maybe he was her escape goat, Meaning"He won't let me come see you" meant I really don't want to. Just leftme more confused. This last weekend she came ans spent the night with us here by herself. It was good we went shopping and had a little girl time. We talked a lot about him and things that she did not like about him. I tried to explain that things do not change when you get married. Meaning don't think you can "change" him because you cannot. So they got into a nasty fight the next day and she broke up with him. I though good. Maybe she can spend a little time deciding what she really wants rather than picking out every flaw that he has. That lasted a day! They got back together on sunday. Oh well......I am too busy to think much more about all of that!
Classes are good. A LOT of reading and I am a little adhd so it's kinda hard. I have to do 2 presentation on a special need. I am doing the same one for both(SHHHH....don't tell the professors!) We have friends that have baby with special needs so I am doing it on her. She has Aicardi Syndrome. It's really rare there are 500 cases in the world and only effect girls. More about that later.
Anyway, other than that things are good. Joe and I are just both very busy in the evenings doing homework. It's kinda quiet around here....but nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!:0)
Have a great rest of the week and enjoy the weekend!!!
