Sleeping...a lot

Joe is home and it's been ok. I say ok because you ladies know what I mean... You get set in your ways and your own routine, and then they come home. It throws everything off. :0) He is on a mission to just play XBOX until school starts in Jan. I would complain...but he's been doing house work too!
I have been sleeping A LOT. I mean a whole lot. Most nights 9pm is LATE for me going to bed. I am the boss at my job and I never realized how much energy goes into being a boss. Started to question my sleepiness....but then my aunt flow came...so...not THAT!!! I have been working many 6:45am to 6:00pm days. I like most parts of my job. Had to fire someone today. That part is not fun.:0(
Anyway, it's 10:00 pm and I cannot keep my eyes open, so off to bed I go!:0)
That is if I can sleep over the ROCK BAND coming from the living room.

Almost Over!

Well Joe is officially released on Thursday. I cannot believe that 6 months is finally done. Clear back in May this day seemed SO FAR away! He is home on a 4 day weekend. He leaves Tuesday and then comes home for good 2 days later. Weird I know...you would have thought they could have just let him stay home.
I got my stitches out last week. I tend to still favor that hand and not use it unless I have to. I guess I am still worried about breaking open that new skin. It seems to be healing nice and no infection, which I am happy about.
I got a new job and new title, but don't have time to tackle that today. Have to get ready for a Birthday Party.

WARNINIG...If grossed out easily DO NOT read BLOG!!

Where have I been lately?? Well I have been struggling to eat, shower, and dress....Why you ask?? Because I have 8 stitches in my hand! Let me explain...
Saturday morning finishing up a wedding cake. I am leveling the cakes. This means cutting the tops off so that they are level. At about noon I am working on a layer when I accidentally slice my hand instead of the cake. It bled like crazy...but I knew I HAD to finish the cake. So...lots of band aids...and a latex glove...and back to the cakes. Hour later...repeat..new band aid and glove...and so on and so on(for a total of 8 hours).
Finished the cake drove it an hour to home town. My parents came to help put it together. We finish and dad says "OK let me see it". So I take off the glove, and it's STILL bleeding(it's been 9 hours bleeding now). So we went to the minor emergency clinic. After cleaning it all up they decide I need stitches. I got 8 stitches in my hand. OUCH it hurts.
So.....typing is very difficult and driving...so I have been doing as little as possible til the stitches come out. One last thought...ever try putting on a bra one handed??? Yeah, it SUCKS!!!! Here is a picture of my hand.

Sears new clothing line

For those of you who have not heard Sears has teamed up with the Army to come out with some vintage style Army clothes.(Think WW2 style). The money is going to help with some type of military family something.....not too sure! Anyway, they started with the BIG RED ONE.
I spent some serious $$$, but Joe got some cool things. They came in the mail today and they look great! I am just ready for him to be home to wear them!
They are having a 40% off sale to kick it off, BUT only until tomorrow!! YIKES! So....go on the sears website and type in 1st infantry division....and all the clothes will come up.

That is all....have a good weekend!GO COLTS

In honor of a friend

Hey guys-
I am writing you to ask a favor. As many of you know Joe's best friend SSG Garth Sizemore died almost 2 years ago(Oct. 17th) in Iraq. His wife Lena is running in the 33rd Annual Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. She is asking for donations for the TAPS organization . The money that is donated will flow directly into TAPS programming such as a 24 hour crisis and information hotline, peer support, Survivor Seminars and Good Grief Camps for both adults and children.
I have put a link to her webite below if you would like to donate.

I also ask that you keep Lena in your thoughts and prayers. As the anniversary draws closer she is going to have some hard days ahead. She si still having a really hard time dealing with his passing.

Thanks,
Roxxi

AAAAHHHHHHH nothing better!

This last week was an AWESOME week! I got to go spend about 4 precious hours with the hubby and then yesterday my old Germany friend Jen came to visit! I got to see her 2 little ones. It was a BLAST. We just talked and talked and caught up on old times. It was perfect. Two great events in one week. YAY ME!!

This week..... no looking so good! Been waiting since 8am on the electrician to come look at the stove that shocked me AND as Jen was leaving I noticed something ran out of my car all over the driveway. YAY...more trips to the mechanic....

Quick Trip

So Joe called me today and needs some cold weather gear. They are going to the field and it gets about mid 40s at night right now. He said he was going to buy all new stuff, but I said NO. NOT when I have an attick full of that crap and don't want him to buy more. So...tomorrow when I get off work(1pm) I am driving 2 and 1/2 hours to Lawton to see him and deliver the goods. THEN turn around and come back home because I work at 7am on Friday morning. YEAH ME!!!! But atleast I get to see my hubby!:0)

Wish me luck!

Maybe I am crazy.....

OK so after test after test the doctors just say it's nothing and I am fine. My parents even my husband say it's nothing.... Actually last week I was in the room at the doctors office waiting on the doctor when I overheard the nurse outside the door talking about me. The nurse was talking to a intern. She said "have you met her yet"?? He said "no". Then she replied "shes' all kinds of crazy". GREAT NOW EVERYONE THINKS I AM CRAZY. My parents say it's stress. Joe says it's all in my head....yada yada yada.
So..... I have resolved to tell myself NOTHING is wrong and maybe if I stop worrying it will all just go away.
So.... I sleep more, drink a little more and take more bubble baths to relax and tell myself I am "fine".
I started school on the 18Th of August. It's OK. My science teacher is EXTREMELY boring and my math teacher is a "NOT NICE WORD". I missed a day of class last week because I got really dizzy at work and they took me to the doctor. We had a review that day, so I missed it. When I went to talk to her she said" It's not my fault you were gone, you can just take the zero".
GREAT!!! What a way to start this semester off right.

I have 2 new jobs. I told the daycare where they could stick it. They were doing too many things that I did not agree with and I was taking care of other people's children...so I quit.
I work early in the morning at a dry cleaners. I am just customer service. Fairly easy job. Then my other job is working for OSU. My official title is "First Aid Responder". I essentially work all home football and basketball games and we administer First Aid/ CPR to people in the stands if they need it. I get paid to watch sporting events...basically!

What else...I am on the downward side of Joe coming home. Slated for 13 November...we'll see though...right?!

That's about all from me. HOPING to see a really close Army friend at the end of this month....should be fun!
Gotta go get ready...going to see The Women tonight at the theatre.

Best Birthday Present...

Yes, today was my 28th Birthday. I had a BLAST and will tell all about it later! I have to get to bed quick so I wanted to share the BEST part about my day. Joe had CQ today. He was talkin to me on the phone but then started yelling at soldiers. He called for a formation. They lined up and then he told them that their duty for the evening was to sing Happy Birthday to his wife into the phone. He counted to 3 and about 40 soldiers started singin at the top of their lungs.. I was crying I was laughing so hard! It was the SWEETEST thing!:0) Boy do I live that man!
Just had to share.....to bed I go...what a great day it was!

WOW...it's been a month....

So...it's been OVER a month and they STILL do not know what is wrong with me! I have been back to the doc to look at this and that ans STILL nothing! I go on Tuesday to draw blood to check for celiac disease( it's where you body cannot process wheat or glutin)......So.....we will see.. still stomach cramps and still loose stools( I know...like you wanted to know that...but your all moms!)

I quit my job at the daycare. VERY poorly managed and the owner talked about me to my back at a restaurant where I was eating with my friends.....
I work at a dry cleaners at the front desk....might have another one through the college too...we will see.
I start school the 18Th and my 28Th Birthday is Sunday.(17Th)

Have a great weekend!:0)

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ok, so no EColi or salmonella....they think now that it is my gallbladder. I go on Friday for an ultrasound and some fluid test thing. The doc says if there is even one gal stone out it comes......So......still in pain and now have to wait to find out anything. I think now is the time that God chose to teach me about patience.

Wish me luck...

Rox
PS... I need all my FRG leader friends to help me! More about this tomorrow!

WOW!!! It's been a LONG time!

OK so my last blog was in May. Let's catch up to now. Joe is gone, have seen him a few times. Cut hair off, going to summer school and working. Oh Crap it's catching up to me! Moved down the street to a new house. Still not completely unpacked. Do not feel like it and too tired after work and school. Pains in legs...scare...NO blood clot but still hurts...??? There....all caught up!
Let's talk about my weekend. I have felt bad ever since about July 5Th(last weekend). Cramping stomach and loose stools(sorry if that grosses anyone out).
Went to the doc for follow up on legs on Thursday and mention stomach not feeling well. Doc says probably a bug and ignores it. The next day at work doubled over in pain, sweating, clammy and sharp stomach pains. My friend forces me to go to the ER. Get in right a way...only to sit in a room for a hour before a doc will see me. GREAT! Quick belly exam..nothings wrong...here's some stomach cramping meds and away I go. Saturday and Sunday feel AWFUL and nothing has changed. Joe tells me last night to go back. Afterall...we do have tricare at the moment! So I go back. This time I am again seen right away, BUT this time. They do a urine sample, stool sample, IV, blood work and pain meds through an IV. OK...NOW we are getting some where! They actually listened this time. The stool and blood both showed my white blood cell count was high. They had to send the stool off for more testing and now they are looking at possible E Coli or Salmonella. So.....after being told it would be ready today.... IT'S NOT and I have to wait and call the doc tomorrow. All the wile I do not feel any better and they have not given me any real drugs yet until they figure out what it is.....so I am still in pain. So, please say a little prayer for me and hope that I get some answers tomorrow.
Good night all

NO WAY

I went out of town with my daycare today. We went to OKC about an hour away. When I left the gift shop with the kids and a teacher told me the other two vans left already. RULE #1 Stay together at all times.
So we get in the van to leave and a child tells me that she has no seat. Since the other school left their teacher I am now one seat short. I called the daycare and informed them that they needed to contact the other van. I needed them to turn around so I could put a kid on their van. 45 MINUTES LATER.....they are back! GREAT so now we are REALLY late and there are parents waiting at the school for their kids. I get back only to be told by the director of the other school(there are 3 schools) that "I should have just double buckled and come on. I do it all the time". WHAT??????? (excuse language) ARE YOU F*&^%^& KIDDING ME?????? I am going to be driving 75 miles per hour on an interstate and you want me to just double buckle them??
I told her I was NOT OK with that and I was not going to do that. I informed her that I could have had a wreck or been pulled over and that I was not going to take that chance. She said well I have angry parents that had to wait on their kids. HOW MAD DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD BE IF THEY KNEW YOU HAD TOO MANY KIDS ON A VAN AND YOU DOUBLE BUCKLED THEIR KID?????????????

To make matters worse they laughed at the vans that left me and they received to reprimand for their actions.

I am in a BAD mood now. I cannot even believe that they truly wanted me to do that.

Just call me the queen B

OK so there is a place here in stillwater called the botanical gardens. It's an amazing garden that people from all over the place have come to help make it pretty. I went the other day with my friend and her 2 kids, plus a neighbor kid. OOOHHHHH MMMMYYYYYY GGGOOOOSSSHHHHH!!!! I do not remember being that embarrassed in a long time. OK get a picture in your head it's a nice quiet peaceful place. Lots of flowers, ponds, walkways, etc. She just tells the kids "Go Run" and they take off terrorizing through this place. Off the pathways climbing on things, out of control. I tell them "hey guys stay on the pathways and be respectful". She says
"No it's fine...they are kids". I quietly bite my tongue and just go on looking. We look for a little longer and then the kid is climbing the rocks of the pond. The lady in control finally comes and tells them to get down and stay on the pathways. She apologizes and looks dumb founded that they told her kids to stop. We look a few minutes more and then the kid takes off out the back of the place into an open field. She just lets him keep running until you can barely see him anymore. I call them back because we do not know what is back there plus it's rude, plus I am not comfortable with it all. He comes back up with sister(who is crying because he beat her at running). I tell him come on let's finish the tour of the garden and then we can go to a park and play. He tells me "NO" I do not want to. I say " Come on we are almost done, we can hurry and be done". He says" No, I do what I want and you cannot stop me". MIND YOU THIS WHOLE TIME THE MOM IS JUST STANDING THERE. I say Chris(name change) let's just do what the group wants and then we can go have fun. He then proceeds to tell me to" Shut up that he is not listening, I am not his boss, and I will not tell him what to do". I LOST it!! I flipped out! I told him that if he were my child I would slap the shit out of him. That it is NOT OK to talk to any adult that way. I told him that my child would never be disrespectful to me and NOT act that way in public. I just left. I told him that he ruined any fun I was having and I was not going to be treated that way.

I got in my car and drove home.
My friend will not talk to me. She says that he's just a kid and to go easy on him. EXCUSE ME???????? He does not need a best friend right now. He needs a PARENT. If she does not get a lid on that now can you imagine what he is going to be like as a teenager??
He was in the principles office weekly at school, now I know why.

I am sorry but I am not going to be around someone that lets their kids talk that way.
Any of you let your kids do that?? Am I crazy for believing they should mind and behave in public??

World War II America (Battle Hymn of the Republic)

In honor of Memorial Day I wanted to post this video. Being a military wife it moved me to tears. I get an overwhelming sense of pride when I hear songs like this. God Bless those who have gone before us and paid the ultimate sacrifice. I appreciate all of our troops. Thank you for fighting for this beautiful country.

Friday, May 23, 2008

Are you kidding me??

I know Joe just left on Monday and I am sure there is stuff to do before they get troops in late July...BUT.... He does not get Monday or Tuesday off. Isn't Memorial Day a day to honor those in our military?? Those who serve now and those that have gone before them?? I was completely blown away when Joe said he has to work on a Federal Holiday. Ft. Sill cannot stop what they are doing for one day?? He said he has had 1/2 days since he got there. Could they not work a few full days to allow time to be off?? Oh wait...that's common sense.

Sorry just rambling...but I just was annoyed by the situation.
Hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day Weekend. Don't forget to take a moment to honor those who have gone before us.

Hurry up 6 months!

Joe left yesterday.:0( It was a hard day yesterday. I cried a lot. Sure I have done this before, but things are really good right now. We are both in school. We are happy and things are good. It's pretty easy to send you hubby away to the field when you are annoyed by them, but this time I did not want him to go.
He was pretty sad too. He said he's gonna miss me and our cat a lot. He called last night. He said his hotel room is nice. He still sounded pretty sad.
These 6 months better FLY by!

Finals are OVER!!!

I finished up Thursday and Joe finished on Friday. I am SSSOOOOOO glad! School is getting on my nerves! I am kinda sick of it....not looking forward to summer school. Here we go again....

So as most of you know, Joe is in the reserves. He is a Drill Sgt and only does his one weekend a month thing. Well that was until now. Joe is being called up to active duty for 6 months to a year.:0( He will be stationed in Lawton(Ft. Sill) and I will stay here in Stillwater. I am not moving 1) because we do not know exactly how long he will be there 2) If I go I will just delay school again and I am not wanting to do that 3) If I did go I would never see him anyway, so I am staying here. He's trying to get me to think positive. He says we will make some money and free health care. OK...although those sound great...I am still going to miss him a lot though. So he will be leaving May 19th. Feel free ladies to send all cheer ups my way that day!;0)

My love for my Dyson

So as some of you know, I purchased a Dyson Animal(the purple one)Vacuum back in May of 2005. It is hands down the BEST vacuum on the planet! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! If you do not have one I seriously urge you to get one! Sell a kid(just kidding!) or a kidney, charge it on the Star Card.....whatever!
So, why do I love it so much you ask? Well It has a 30 ft hose so you can leave it at the bottom of the stairs and go all the way up. It cleans the ceiling and there are a lot of cool attachments. It helps me with both my allergies and asthma.
I attached a picture to show you. I vacuum once a week. I emptied the canister before I vacuumed. The picture is of JUST MY LIVING ROOM!!! There is just the 2 of us and my cat....now imagine if there were more of us how much worse it would be!
So....if your in the mood for a new vacuum I have one I suggest!:0)
Have a great week!

Just Venting....

So I am in line to check out at Wal-mart last night and I was floored by what I heard a college girl say. Her and her 2 friends are checking out...they buy a lot of crap and the last one bought the beer( Probably the only one that was 21). The one in front of the beer girl checks out and goes to pay for it. She very loudly says " You know my dad is getting upset about me always using his credit card for everything". So the one buying the beer says" So why don't you just get a job?" The girl replied" Eww gross...I don't do work." ARE YOU (INSERT BAD WORD!!) KIDDING ME??? Who does that? That girl should have been slapped right then and there. She has no idea how hard people work , probably so they can pay off her credit card. She has no clue what reality is and when that day comes, boy do I feel sorry for her.

Vacation was (almost)perfect!!!:0)

So as you know we went to Summit Point, WV for 10 days. 2 of the days we rode a train into DC. I loved DC it was great! We saw a lot of cool stuff and had a blast! On day 2(March 19Th) we came out of the national archives to a bunch of war protesters out side the building. Talk about VERY uncomfortable...I got teary eyed 1) because I was very sad too see upside down flags and to read what they said 2) because they were everywhere and made me feel uncomfortable. The look on Joe's face said a lot to me....he was angry. We finally walked out in the middle of the street because there were cops everywhere blocking the street. About 10 minutes later it started DOWN POURING!!! About the time our bus headed into Arlington Cemetery. I just laughed because I thought in some small way it was God trying to send the protesters home! (Probably not, but I want to think it). It rained the rest of the day too. So...here we are at Arlington with NO umbrellas or jacket. We were soaked!!! Drenched and cold! We were there for like 3 hours or so. About 3/4 of the way being done a security guard says" hey you know they sell ponchos in the gift shop...right?" So we went and got them because we still wanted to walk to Iwo Jima. It did a little good. I was able to keep the camera dry and my arms!
We were going to the Smithsonian after that, but since we were wet and cold...we found a local brewery instead and drank beer to warm up!:0) Then we went shopping in union station and got on the train for home.

It was a LONG drive (19 hours) but totally worth it!
I will post more later....too sleepy!!!!

We got a new car!!

Here are some pics of our new car. We went to Enid (my hometown) tonight and picked it up. The first one is Joe and my dad talking about the car. The second is the front and the last is the side view(and my mom in the background). This is the first car I have had with a sun roof and power windows and locks. I am SUPER EXCITED!!!:0) It gets 35 MPG on the highway so our trip to DC(yes Jen you guessed right!) will be great on gas.
DC here we come!!

We're moving this summer!!!!

We have been looking for a new rental house for a while because we are unhappy with our current house and the lease will be up this summer. Being in a college town you would think it would be easy to find a house right?? WRONG!! The houses we have looked at have been WAY too small(after being married for 5 years you accumulate a lot of crap!) or the houses are ghetto and about to fall apart. In both cases they are RIDICULOUSLY over priced!!
There is a house right down the street( 5 houses away) that put a rent sign up a few weeks ago. I got the number and thought "eh- what can it hurt?" I called and talked to the landlord and found out somethings about the house. Due to funerals and being gone 2 weekends in a row it took us a while to go and see the house. We went on Saturday afternoon to go see it. The minute I walked in I knew it was the place for us!:0) It's SO pretty and unlike my current house, has been maintained and the appliances have been updated. It is such a nicer house and only $50.00 more than we are paying now. It's So worth the pay increase. The new house has the laundry room inside, which is the best feature to me! In our current house it's out in the garage.
Anyway, I am SUPER excited and I cannot wait to start some what packing!! Being so close I can just load up the car and unload in a few minutes.
Well I better run...gotta go finish the laundry...leaving on Friday for Spring Break.
Wanna know where??? Here's a hint...there is a famous house there and another place has a soldier who likes to walk a lot!!
Any guesses????

Back in the grind!

We came back to Stillwater on Saturday. We went to Hastings(a movie rental place) and then to sonic to grab some ice cream. We were leaving sonic and Joe had pulled out of the stall and was fixing to drive forward. Suddenly the car in the opposite stall hits our car. We get out and there's quite a bit of damage to his, but not anything to ours. Joe says "it's not big deal" let's just go....after all HE HIT US!! Then the guys say" oh no the police are on the way and you will pay for my car". He had a BRAND new Lexus SUV just off off the lot, and we have a 98 Chevy cavalier that's on it's last life! Joe says "dude you have got to be kidding me. You hit me". The cop gets there and goes over to the other driver first and tells Joe get the insurance and licence. This lady ran over and said "Are they trying to say you did it"? We said yes and she said she saw it and was going to write a witness report.(Thank God) then her husband writes one too.
While all of this is going on the guy from the other car is being a jerk to the cop. asking "if he's going to give us a ticket"? The cop said its private property and that he cannot do that nor say who's fault it was. The guys says "well my lawyer is in the car and she will handle this"! The cop said "OK but I really could care less and your threatening is not going to help you". SERIOUSLY???? Who takes their lawyer to a drive up fast food restaurant??? Whatever dude!
Needless to say we finally got to leave and immediately called USAA when we got home.

Thanks to everyone who left comments or prayers while I have been dealing with my Grandma. It means a lot. What bothers me is people I do not know try and hug me and console me. Maybe I am being rude, but it's truly how I feel. There has been a couple of people at my work that I really do not know and they have tried to hug me and say"I'm so sorry". It;s weird to me! You do not know me.
Is that wrong? Basically total strangers trying to hug me?
Does anyone else feel that way?

Grandma update

Yesterday was probably the worst day of my life. We went to Joe's grandma's funeral and my grandma passed away yesterday. I am physically and emotionally drained. My grandma's funeral is Wednesday. I get 3 days leave from work. Even though the funeral is an hour away I am going to take the 3 days and spend some time with my family and just time to deal with it all. Both deaths were sudden and unexpected.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate it.

Thoughts and Prayers

My Grandma was put in ICU Monday and Joe's Grandma died this morning. It's just a little tough around here right now. We would appreciate any thoughts and prayers.
Thanks,

I got this as an e-mail so I thought I would pass it along!

Things NOT to say to a military Spouse or Girlfriend!

1. 'Aren't you afraid that he'll be killed?'
(This one ranks in at number one on the 'duh' list. Of course we're afraid. We're terrified. The thought always lingers at the backs of our minds ---but thanks brilliant, you just brought it back to the front. Maybe next you can go ask someone with cancer if they're scared of dying.)

2. 'I don't know how you manage. I don't think I could do it.'
(This is intended to be a compliment. Though, its just a little annoying. Here's why: it's not like all of us military wives have been dreaming since childhood of the day we'd get to be anxious single moms who carry cell phones with us to the bathroom and in the shower. We're not made of some mysterious matter that makes us more capable, we just got asked to take on a challenging job. So we rose to the challenge and found the strength to make sacrifices.)

3. 'At least he's not in Iraq.'
(This is the number one most annoying comment for those whose husbands are in Afghanistan. What do they think is happening in Afghanistan? An international game of golf? Guys are fighting and dying over there.)

4.'Do you think he'll get to come home for Christmas/anniversary/birthday/birth of a child/wedding/family reunion, etc?'(Don't you watch the news? No! They don't get to come home for any of these things. Please don't ask again.)

5.'What are you going to do to keep yourself busy while he's gone?'
(Short answer: Try to keep my sanity. Maybe there's a military wife out there who gets bored when her husband leaves, but I have yet to meet her. For the rest of us, those with and without children, we find ourselves having to be two people. That keeps us plenty busy. We do get lonely, but we don't get bored, and drinking massive amounts of wine always helps keep me busy.)

6. 'How much longer does he have until he can get out?'(This one is annoying to many of us whether our husbands are deployed or not. Many of our husbands aren't counting down the days until they 'can' get out. Many of them keep signing back up again and again because they actually love what they do or they VOLUNTEER AGAIN and AGAIN to go back to Iraq b/c there is work that needs to be done.)

7. 'This deployment shouldn't be so bad, now that you're used to it.'
(Sure, we do learn coping skills and its true the more deployments you've gone through, the easier dealing with it becomes. And we figure out ways to make life go smoother while the guys are gone. But it never gets 'easy' and the bullets and bombs don't skip over our guys just because they've been there before. The worry never goes away.)

8. 'My husband had to go to Europe for business once for three weeks. I totally know what you're going through.'(This one is similar to number two. Do not equate your husband's three week trip to London/Omaha/Tokyo/etc. with a 12-15 month or more deployment to a war zone. Aside from the obvious time difference, nobody shot at your husband or tried to blow him up with an I.E.D., your husband could call home pretty much any time he wanted to, he flew comfortably on a commercial plane, slept between crisp white sheets and ate well, paying for everything with an expense account. There is no comparison. We do not feel bonded to you in the slightest because of this comment and, if anything, we probably resent you a bit for it. Comparing a 12 month combat deployment to a few weeks business trip is like comparing a shitty ford taurus with mercedes convertible.)

9. 'Wow you must miss him?'
(This one also gets antoher big 'duh'. Of course we miss our men. There are some wives who do not and they're now divorced.)

10. 'Where is he exactly? Where is that?'
(I don't expect non-military folks to be able to find Anbar Province on a map, but they should know by now that it's in Iraq. Likewise, know that Kabul and Kandahar are in Afghanistan. Know that Muqtada al Sadr is the insurgent leader of the Mahdi Army in Iraq and that Sadr City is his home area. Know that Iran is a major threat to our country and that it is located between Afghanistan and Iraq. Our country has been at war in Afghanistan for seven years and at war in Iraq for five years. These basic facts are not secrets, they're on the news every night and in the papers every day ---and on maps everywhere.)

11. 'Well, he signed up for it, so it's his own fault whatever happens over there.
(Yes, ignorant ass, he did sign up. Each and every day he protects your right to make stupid comments like that. He didn't sign up and ask to be hit by anything, he signed up to protect his country. Oh, and by the way, he asked me to tell you that 'You're welcome.' He's still fighting for your freedom.)

12. 'Don't you miss sex! I couldn't do it!'
(hmmm, no i don't miss sex. i'm a robot. seriously...military spouses learn quickly that our relationships must be founded on something greater than sex. We learn to appreciate the important things, like simply hearing their voices, seeing their faces, being able to have dinner together every night. And the hard truth is, most relationships probably couldn't withstand 12 months of sex deprivation.)

13. 'Well in my opinion.....'
(Stop right there. Yo, I didn't ask for you your personal political opinions. Hey, I love a heated political debate, but not in the grocery store, not in Jamba Juice, not at Nordstrom, not in a bar when I'm out with my girls trying to forget the war, and CERTAINLY NOT AT WORK. We tell co-workers about deployments so when we have to spend lunch hours running our asses off doing errands and taking care of the house, dog, and kids, they have an understanding. We do not tell co-workers and colleagues because we are giving an invitation to ramble about politics or because we so eagerly want to hear how much they hate the President, esp. while we're trying to heat up our lean cuisines in the crappy office microwaves.)

last but not least....

14. 'OH, that's horrible...I'm so sorry!'
(He's doing his job, he's a badass, and he loves his job. Don't be sorry. Be appreciative and please take a moment out of your comfortable American lives to realize that our soldiers fight the wars abroad so those wars stay abroad.)

If you want to say anything, say thank you. After all, we are sexually deprived for your freedom.

My new love!

So a friend I work with has been talking about Zumba class and how we should go try it. What is Zumba? It is a combination of dancing and aerobics set to latin music. We went 2 weeks ago and it was fun! I could not do all the moves like the instructor but I figured as long as I was moving and sweating that was good, right?!
I went back today and had a BLAST!! The class is an hour long and you dance and sweat the whole time. I am going to download some Zumba music on iTunes and try my best to go every week. If you have not tried it, and it is offered in your area you should go at least once. Who knows you might love it as much as me.:0)

MMMMMazing Muffins!!!

So I got 2 recipes from a really cool lady named V(all my army friends know her!) Anyway, I tried both of them and HELLO they were AMAZING!!!:0) I posted earlier about how I was going to eat a little healthier this year and I LOVE these recipes.

The first one is Pumpkin Muffins
You can use either a box of Carrot Cake or Spice Cake. I chose Carrot Cake.
Box of Carrot Cake
1 Can of pumpkin(Not pie filling)
1C Raisins
1C Walnuts
( I also added about 2TBSP milk because the mix is going to be thick.)
Add the 4 above mentioned in a bowl. DO NOT ADD THE EGGS AND OIL FROM THE CAKE MIX!!!
Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. They are going to rise quite like a regular muffin, or get as brown, but are still delicious!!!

The second is Lemon Poppy seed Muffins.
1 box of lemon poppy seed muffin mix
1 6oz jar of vanilla yogurt
1 6oz jar of lemon yogurt
(Also 2 TBSP milk to help not be so thick, but not required)
Mix the 3 ingredients together and bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Will not brown like a muffin but will get golden around the edges.
If you want a more lemon taste do 2 lemon yogurts instead of vanilla and if you want to tone down the lemon do 2 vanilla yogurts. I thought they were just right with one of each.

I also just pulled blueberry muffins out of the oven. They were also delicious!! It was a box of muffin mix and 2 jars vanilla yogurt. Might try 1 vanilla and one blueberry next time!!!

Anyway, enjoy them I definitely have!!!:0)

AAAAHHHHHHBBBBLLLAAAAHHHHHHUUUUHHHHH

OK, I totally feel better now! What a day I had at school today! As many of you know I am a TA for a Pre-K class. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my job and I know now that I definitely DO want to be a teacher and have found my calling. I work with the best teacher anyone could ask for. However, today was a day from HELL!! 2 weeks off of school was rough on the 4 year olds and they all seemed to have forgotten A LOT over the break. We took it easy last week and it was pretty mellow. Now I know why...... We have a little girl(she's the youngest in the class) that just whines and cries ALL DAY LONG!!!! She cries if she does not want to do something, if she cannot find something, or if she thinks it's too hard.. It's not really a cry...more like a high pitched whiny voice that says "I can't" and then starts to cry. UUUHHHH I cannot stand whining! This little girl was very spoiled by grandma and grandpa over the break and pretty much did not have to do anything for herself. Now the parents have resorted to also doing it for her so that she will stop crying because they do not want to hear it. But, what they fail to realize is that they are not actually teaching her anything by doing it for her and it only going to get worse. I kind of had a melt down at school today.. I told her to stop whining because I was sick of it..I then had to leave the room and take a few BIG DEEP breaths!!! There were kids in the class holding their ears because they are sick of it!!
So, my moms and teachers out there that read this..... What's your advice? We have mentioned the whining to mom and dad and encouraged them to let her do things for herself but I feel it's getting worse...NOT better! Now what?
Also any advice on keeping my sanity??

TTYL,
Roxxi

No Resolution...just better

SO, I am not a fan of New Year's Resolutions. I do not know anyone that sticks to them and so they are just a waste of time. I AM however going to try and do something better this year. I am going to cook a little more organic food this year and healthier recipes. I have been searching the net for new stuff and have even tried a few. In the spring I am going to grow a garden and I am going to try and grow fresh herbs too. I want to cook with fresh spices whenever possible.

On another note, I sold another book AND Joe told me today that I can sell some of his books now that he sees that I have sold 3 totalling $130.00. So, after the doctors apt tomorrow(had a cold for a week now....) I am going to list his books too!

Have a great weekend!
